Throughout
my artwork, I tried to express the idea of emotion. My
greatest task was taking these ideas and feelings and transforming
them into a concrete image. I was able to portray my
feelings through the mood and the setting of my paintings. I
used a variety of delicate, yet expressive colors to create
a sky, and a great deal of movement in order to attain realism. The
depth in my paintings and in the rest of my artwork allow
others to feel the emotions that I try to express. The
emotions that I try to convey are what makes us who we are
and show others what we feel.
I have even
amazed myself through the variety of paintings I created. There is a
visual growth that shows how I have improved as an artist. With acrylic
paints, I am able to create works that exemplify space, movement, and depth. Through
my experiences as a painter, I realized exactly how movement and the different
shadings of colors actually enhance an artwork. Painting
is all about technique and precision.
My most
meaningful paintings, which are based on emotion, are connected to my own cultural
background. My Greek heritage has inspired me greatly in most of my paintings. Greece’s
beautiful beaches, churches, ocean views, and its scenery in general, have
influenced me to draw and paint the emotions that I want to express. To
me, these views symbolize an escape route from everyday life,
and embody the idea of relaxation and serenity.
